SDL Trados and Plunet announce partnership

Plunet integrates Trados TM Server on the Plunet BusinessManager platform.

Time for spring fever of a different kind: SDL Trados Technologies and Plunet GmbH have announced the signing of a technology partnership agreement.

For the first time, translation processes running over the Trados TM Server are now linked to one of the leading industry solutions for business and workflow management. The bi-directional high-end interface developed by Plunet enables translation agencies and in-house translation departments to establish integrated translation management processes. Automated analyses, direct outputting of detailed and clearly presented price calculations and significantly simplified processes in the order and job areas are key benefits of this integration. When quotes are accepted or jobs are assigned, pre-translation is automatically started on the Trados TM Server, and the analysis files obtained in the process are linked to the relevant price lists. Afterwards, the work packages for the corresponding translators are made available by the integrated system - all at the push of a button. The benefits are obvious: the high level of automation achieved with the integration of SDL Trados and Plunet noticeably eases the workload on project managers, reduces the potential for making mistakes, saves time, reduces costs and offers significant improvements in terms of productivity. At the same time, the system also offers project managers all the necessary control and intervention tools, thus ensuring that the project moves along smoothly at all times.

SDL and Plunet are aware of the exceptional potential and opportunities this partnership offers to both companies - and, in particular, to users all around the world. "When we look at it in more detail, what we are really trying to do is offer both SDL customers and Plunet customers tangible added value. We combine the strengths of SDL with the strengths of Plunet. This allows us to create integrated workflows and effective project management, and will fundamentally simplify our customers' work processes", explains Plunet's pleased CEO, Stefan Dümig. As well as continuously refining and developing Plunet BusinessManager, Dümig is particularly interested in selective networking with complementary cutting edge technology: "Our aim is an integrated and highly automated complete solution for the translation industry, which combines modular translation, project management and content management modules on the Plunet BusinessManager platform."

The people responsible at SDL are also very confident that this latest development will bring success: "We are extremely pleased about this partnership. We believe that the synergies resulting from the interlinking of Plunet and SDL technologies are quite groundbreaking and will redefine the future for our industry", explains Martin Philips, Channel Sales Manager at SDL Trados Technologies. With around 170,000 customers worldwide, SDL is the number one in terms of global information management. SDL software and SDL services allow all types of corporate information to be translated effectively into the required languages. SDL helps customers to deliver globally standardized corporate and brand images and also noticeably accelerates product launches on international markets. Philips closes by underlining the impressive capability of the overall package, which "...will excite Plunet customers and SDL customers equally with its combination of excellent translation and project management functions".
