My Favorite Features in Plunet 7.2 – Multi-Team Projects

In the first article of this blog series, Simona Hodrea describes why „Price Lists per Customer and Customer Group“ is her most favorite Plunet 7.2 feature. In the second blog post, Sophie Halbeisen will present „Multi Team Projects“ and show you what problems this new feature will solve, who needs it and why she loves it. Enjoy reading! 🙂

What problem did it solve?

We have so many customers that work on multi-lingual projects, sometimes with up to 60 language combinations in one order. In many cases, there is a project manager who oversees just one or a couple of the language pairs, especially when the project is rather complex. In addition, some of our clients have completely separate offices all over the world that take care of certain language combinations, e.g. an office in South America that is responsible for the Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese translations or an office in Asia that will cover the Asian languages only. The new feature allows our clients to choose an “item supervisor”, which is a new role we did not have before. This item supervisor can see the item for their language combination(s) only and can create and manage workflows and assign vendors, but they cannot see or access jobs or files for the other languages in the order. This makes it so much easier to only concentrate on your work – as you won’t be distracted by other items you do not need to worry about – but also limits risk of human error and security concerns. This also means that large projects do not need to be split up into different orders if multiple project managers are involved, so we can keep profit margins and all other project-related info in one place.

Who needs it?

Everyone who want their project managers to only see their items/language combinations in a project. This could be used to limit access, but also just to avoid confusion in a multi-lingual project.

What do I love about it?

I just love how this feature solves so many problems for different use cases and how it allows large corporations to work with multiple offices with just one system. If this feature is combined with rights settings based on company codes, local offices can additionally get access to their vendors only, which allows for really advanced setups in complex company structure.
